The Concept

BTRock is dedicated with love to three extraordinary visionaries who shaped our generation: Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, zt'l, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, zt'l and Rabbi Noach Weinberg.

We live in a generation where the overwhelming majority of Jews know more about the films of Woody Allen than the Five Books of Moses. Counteracting this shift to the secular are a growing number of Jews who have made conscious decisions to increase their commitment to Judaism and revitalize the Jewish values of their ancestors. Their ranks include people of all ages and professions from around the globe, each with his or her own story to tell, each with a message of devotion and enthusiasm to share.

BTRock Productions was founded to increase Jewish awareness and joy as well as to showcase the myriad talented musicians in the Jewish world through recordings, live performances and sheet music. B.T. is an acronym for the Hebrew words Ba'al T'shuva, meaning "owner of repentance," or one who returns to a Torah-observant lifestyle. None of the artists included in this collection of Judaically-inspired pop, rock and world music was born into an observant family, but each has chosen to embrace tradition, keeping such basic mitzvot (commandments) as observing the Sabbath and kashrut (dietary laws.)

Other BTRock collections are in the works, including a sampling of great Jewish female artists as well as a BTRock kids album. Our hope is that these releases will inspire listeners to explore the invaluable wisdom and life-changing insights of their 3,300-year-old Jewish heritage.
